For the first time in Ghana there would be a collaboration between government, industry key players, and members of the academia. This is an initiative of ABCDE and is aimed at those in secondary and tertiary institutions. Speaking at this event would be Hon. Alan Kyeremanteng, VC Obiri Danso, former Minister Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and many other illustrious personalities who have made and left marks in government, industry and the academia.
The African Business Centre for Developing Education (ABCDE) is a Ghanaian based Pan-African Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), committed to mentorship, provision of scholarships, skills development of secondary and tertiary students and also helps to provide them with internship and job recruitment programmes.
ABCDE is driven by a passion to harness the core assets of businesses and organizations, such as innovation, technology, product design and creation, financing, corporate knowledge, skills and experience, and labour networks and advocacy to bridge the gap between the human resource expectations of industry and the product outputs of African educational institutions. It aims to help produce better prepared and more relevant African graduates for the world of work, and to intimate them with the constant changes in the corporate world.
It is in this vein that it has introduced the Annual forum on government, industry and academia where key players in the business community, science and technology and students at various levels of secondary and tertiary education are brought together in the spirit of excellence, tutorship and mentorship.
The theme for this year’s event is: Forging Closer Collaboration Between Government, Academia and Industry for Socio-Economic Development. And the venue would be the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences. The forum starts at 8:00am.
The main focus here is to inspire the upcoming labour market with practical experiences and relevant skills by men and women who were once like them and have become people they would aspire to be like, or better than. And it also wishes to reveal to them how necessary their skills and knowledge are to the development of society, and how important it is to note that change begins with each and everyone of us
