There will be a heavy presence of Ghanaians at the 2018 AMI Awards Afrika (African Music Industry Awards) as 8 Ghanaian artists have been nominated for various awards.
Leading the onslaught with 3 nominations is rapper Sarkodie who bagged nominations in the Best Male Western Artist, Best Collaboration and Best Rap categories.
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale are nominated in the Best Male Western Artist and Best Dancehall categories. The AMI Awards Afrika also nominated dancehall artist samini in the Best Dancehall category and gospel artist Sonnie Badu in the Best Gospel Male Artist category.
Multiple VGMA Best Vocals award winners Efya & Becca were also included into the nominees for the Best Female Western Artist battling it out with other West African female artists.
After having a strong 2017 which had her music being imported and exported through different countries, Ebony duly earned the nomination for the Best Female Newcomer along with Medikal who also earned a nomination in the Best Male Newcomer category.
