The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), on Wednesday disbursed over GHC 30,000 to some ailing right owners from the Southern sector to help cater for their situation.
Another trench of disbursement would be made in the coming week in Kumasi, for members from the Northern sector.
The ceremony which was held at the secretariat of GHAMRO, was the second of the series of disbursement under the welfare package of the organization.
The organization as part of new measures to make the welfare of its member key, has committed 10 percent of GHAMRO’s income into a fund managed by the Welfare Committee.
The package is applicable to members who have lost their parents, those in trying financial need, healthcare and medical cost.
About 15 right owners were beneficiaries to the disbursement of the fund on the day.
Some of the beneficiaries were, A.K Yeboah, Mr.Owusu, James Danso, Awotwe, Sampson Annor, Abebe and the band among others.
Speaking in an interview, Chairman of GHAMRO, Kojo Antwi, said it is the policy of the collection society to cater for the needs of the right owners, whose interest they represent.
According to him, the new GHAMRO would ensure its members take home what their due.
He urged all and sundry to come onboard with every contribution to make the society a force to reckon with.
The administrator of GHAMRO, Abraham Adjetey added that the welfare committee in the first disbursement, released GHC 25,500 into the welfare of members.
He added that they would swiftly respond to any call from their member for help.
He added that GHAMRO, had earlier called on ailing Jewel Ackah and made some donations to him.
