Award winning Ghanaian singer, Nii Lante Okunka Blankson widely known in showbiz as Knii Lante has revealed the inspiration behind his recent single, Bestie.
In an interview On YEntertainment Podium, the singer revealed ace broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as KKD pushed him into releasing a ‘Ga’ dominated song.
Explaining further, the ‘Baby Take Good Care’ hitmaker said he was challenged by KKD to compose a song which connects him to his Jamestown roots.
“ KKD and I are very good friends and he has always been pushing me to compose songs with my beloved Ga dialect so I can connect properly with my Jamestown and the entire Ga community”. Knii Lante said.
According to Knii, the creation of ‘Bestie’ was a very smooth process. “I was in my writing element and recording mood when I took up KKD’s challenge. I got my writing tools and added the guitar, it took some few hours to put together this beautiful piece called Bestie”
‘Bestie’ is a contemporary reggae song composed with a hybrid of English and Ga. It was released on Friday June 10. The single is complimented with a very wavy visuals completely shot with an iPhone.
Knii Lante mentioned he has some few singles lined up for release before 2022 ends. Also, he is gearing up towards his ‘Just a Voice concert’ in December. “Before 2022 officially closes, I will release some few more singles and my team and I are working heavily to stage our annual Just A Voice Concert.” Knii Lante disclosed.
