The First African Artiste to be featured on Penthouse Records is Eye Judah – King Lagazee
After proving his versatility as a musician with different genres of music, the Accra (Dansoman) based artiste, Kweiks has once again consecrated us with a beautiful melodious and soul-touching highlife song he calls “Yaa Baby”.
In posts leading up to the release of the song, Kweiks had indicated that this song is his way of ending the year. He also posted on his Facebook page saying:
“If you’ve ever been in a long distance relationship or you are currently in one, you di3 #YaaBaby is for you proper proper.”
After getting the chance to listen to this beautiful masterpiece, we now understand why he’d post that and why he chose to release this song in December.
“Yaa Baby”, like all songs by him, has a fluid storyline and a principal theme. The song tells a tale of two lovers separated by the man’s quest for greener pastures in a foreign land. On his journey however, he realizes that the grass is not as green at that side of the fence as he had thought. So that, coupled with missing his lover and the fond times they’ve spent together, he makes a promise to return home to the love of his life by any means possible.
Considering that December is the time when all travelers return home to celebrate with family, friends and loved ones, this just perfect timing. For a highlife song, Kweiks definitely did justice to the record produced by the ever talented rapper/producer, FimFim, with sweet guitar leads by ace guitarist – Dominic, who is also the lead guitarist on the band for TV3’s music reality show, Mentor.
As usual, Kweiks delivered his vocals in Twi, Ewe, Ga and Pidgin English. We are yet to have a bad song from this bald headed genius. This song is jam for days and we strongly recommend you put it up in your playlist.
