We must admit that the new school rappers, spearheaded by Sarkodie, Medkial, Strongman, E.L etc are doing well to maintain the tradition.
And contrary to the prediction made by some Highlife greats that hip-life will soon fade into oblivion, the genre is rather growing from strength to strength.

In that regard, rapper Medikal has said he is the reason why the rap game is thriving. According to him, just like Reggie Rockstone and Lord Kenya raised the bar high in the past, he also came into the game and have saved it from deteriorating.
He said:
I came and saved and changed the rap game. Like Reggie Rockstone, Lord Kenya and the others came and saved the game some time ago, I also came and saved the genre when I came into the music scene.
Medikal is often considered one of the best rappers when he burst onto the scene but lately his verses skills have plummeted, making receive some criticisms from a cross section of Ghanaians.
