MTV Base Africa, today took to Twitter and tagged Ghanaian popular hip-hop artiste and rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, known in showbiz as Sarkodie; the richest celebrity in Ghana.

The tweet also added appellations such as the fastest and most awarded rapper in Africa. Once again this caused a stir on social media with some applauding the tweet and others disagreeing with it. Last year December (2016), they named the top 10 Emcees in Ghana which generated a lyrical war between Ghanaian artiste Wanlov and D-Black who was among the top 10 Emcees mentioned by MTV Base.
The questions on most people’s mind are, how are these conclusions reached? Is this about Sarkodie’s worth as a celebrity? Did Sarkodie disclose his bank savings to them? Are these calculations based on his YouTube views, album sales and number of shows he hosted over the years? Well, these are questions we believe most people may want answered.
Sarkodie has won many awards and hosted a lot of successful shows and of course, has been the most mentioned name when it comes to who the best rapper is in Ghana. He can also boast of dozens of endorsement deals among others. In our eyes, he could be a very rich artiste if we put the above mentioned things into consideration. But is he really the richest?
MTV Base is a 24-hour music and general entertainment channel from Viacom International Media Networks Europe. The channel focuses primarily on music from the world of R’n’B, hiphop, reggae, soul and urban. They award deserving artistes who work hard in their various fields as far as making good music is concerned. Maybe, they know something we don’t know.
