Whether looking at afro-pop music, hip-life or dancehall, it’s rare to find a person who hasn’t been touched or affected by the power of a gospel music. There is a sound that comes from gospel music that doesn’t come from anything else. It is a sound of peace. The sound of, ‘I’m going to make it through all of this”.
The emergence of the charismatic and talented recruit, and popularly known Ohemaa Gyamfi, is a golden touch to Ghana’s gospel music.
She was born nurtured by Mr. Emmanuel Denkyi Appah and Madam Rose Opari Larbi. Starting as the 15 year old Obo Kwahu church choir girl with cherubic voice, Ohemaa grew up to be a pious woman whose devoutness was towards the ministration of the gospel through songs prior inspirations he got from listening to the Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe sisters and Cecelia Marfo.
Discovered by Mr. Gyamfi, the CEO of Cool Entertainment Record Label,who now happens to be her husband. Happily married for 10 years and blessed with two children, Edwina Gyamfi and Ken Gyamfi.
Ohemaa’s maiden album, “THE POWER” containing 12 tracks was produced in Cool studios. Cool Studio, located at Gbawe-Accra is known to have worked with for top music pioneers like Castro, Samini and OD4 now mavluz. Although she faced some challenges and a hard time working on this album she still kept the spirit alive.
Ohemaa’s music and lifetime is not only limited here in Ghana. She has lived part of her life in Ghana, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden and her songs have been spread and accepted throughout the nation and enjoyed exclusively massive air play on various radio & TV stations.
