LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT (MUSICIANS UNION OF GHANA)
MR,BICE OSEI KUFOUR
MUSIGA TV/ RADIO…NOW
Dear Mr President,
Musiga is growing and gaining recognition both locally and internationally at fast pace with credible acceptance and support from the Government of Ghana and international organizations, companies, agencies and individual donors through partnership and sponsorship.
In respect to these accolades and recognition the union is enjoying, I Bright Appiah Quaye a.k.a Joe Wizzy the Greater Accra Organizer deem it appropriate to write to you officially based upon several concerns raised by the Greater Accra regional members in our subsequent meetings and myself sees it in the Unions capacity to owe its private television and radio frequencies which will serve as a platform for the musiga members to showcase their art and also give recognition to companies and partners who support the union in various ways , due to the heavy tariffs in broadcasting musical works on both radio and television stations across the nation, most musicians finds it very difficult to showcase their creativity causing them a great loss in revenue and end up being taken advantage of by private stations across the country.
These and other sentiments calls for the musicians union of Ghana to own its private tv and radio stations with immediate effect to keep its members in business and also serve as a revenue generating venture to the union through advert placements from companies to cut unemployment since musicians also work as technicians, djs, vdjs, presenters and performers at various media houses across the nation. Free broadcast of musical works of union members will enable them do quality works since the burden of paying before publishing musical works will be no more and other media houses will emulate and respect the creativity right of the artiste.
Kindly give due consideration to our request, and pray to have a meeting with you to discuss further. Thanking you in anticipation.
Sincerely
Bright Appiah Quaye (Joe Wizzy)
Greater Accra Regional Organizer,
Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)
