Alkians Entertainment Celebrates Successful Music Seminar As Business Mogul Sugar Kwame Sets Incubator Scheme For Artistes

Ghanaian record label and now music distribution and marketing company Alkians Entertainment has seen a successful end to its music seminar and soiree.Alkians Entertainment is pleased to announce the successful completion of its highly anticipated music seminar and soiree, held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Guide Radio in Accra. The event, which attracted a diverse group of Ghanaian artists, managers, and industry professionals, was a resounding success, reinforcing Alkians Entertainment’s commitment to uplifting Ghanaian music on the global stage.

The seminar provided an invaluable platform for attendees to learn from some of the most respected names in the industry and heads of partner brands in the music ecosystem.Speakers included Yaw Dan from Mdundo Ghana, Swayye Kidd from Boomplay Ghana, Nnamdi from Onerpm Africa, and Nana Gee from Eastern Child. These experts shared their insights on navigating the evolving music landscape, tapping into emerging markets, and adopting strategies to elevate Ghanaian music internationally but importantly the educated musicians on the value possessed by the brands they represent.

One of the highlights of the event was the support pledged by businessman Sugar Kwami, who committed to providing resources and mentorship to serve as an incubator for the growth of emerging artists. His involvement promises to be a significant boost to the industry, offering artists the opportunity to develop their talents and expand their reach both locally and globally.This he seeks to do with the CEO of Alkians Entertainment Mr.Nelson Kissi Ansong.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, network with peers, and gain actionable knowledge that will be instrumental in their careers. Performances from young Ghanaian artistes, Boakye, Superwoman hitmaker Kwekupee and Crytical whose “Bokor Bokor “ is out this month serenaded patrons through the process.

Speaking after the event, Nelson Kissi Ansong;CEO of Alkians Entertainment mentioned that he extends its heartfelt thanks to all speakers, participants, and partners who contributed to making this seminar and soiree a landmark event in the Ghanaian music industry. Ras Kuuku revives Burger Highlife with New Single “Atia”

Ras Kuuku is doing everything possible to prove his worth as a lead male vocalist. His latest release “Atia” signs him off as one of the best mainstream male vocalists.

According to Ras Kuuku, the urbanized form of Highlife, which many call ‘Burger Highlife’ seems to be going extinct because many have switched completely to Afrobeats and neglecting that side of the Ghanaian sound which graced many homes and speakers in the 1990s era. So he steps in the booth to throw some spotlight on the genre with ‘Atia’.

‘Atia’ is a very clean melodic song by the Dome-based Rasta Man which rides along the tale of love; wooing a female admirer with his swooning vocals and originality as a Ghanaian Act.

History of Burger Highlife:
Ghanaians in Germany created a secular style of Highlife that combined the genre with funk, disco, and synth-pop. It is believed it was called ‘Burger Highlife’ because the largest communities of Ghanaians resided in Hamburg. The music became associated with migrants who would travel between Germany and Ghana.

Iconic Highlife Musician, George Darko, was known as the “King of Burger Highlife”. The exceptionally talented guitarist and vocalist revolutionized Highlife music and produced hit songs such as ‘Akoo Te Brofo,’ ‘Money Palaver,’ ‘Oseeyie,’ and ‘Odo Colour’ — he sadly passed away in 2024.

Providing networking and continued education opportunities for DJs, the 1st edition of the 2024 Ghana DJ Clinic under the theme “Exploring the Business of Entertainment”, was held in Tamale on August 10.

The Ghana DJ Clinic was heavily attended by DJs and other creatives in the northern region, enthusiastic about shaping talents and the general creative space in Ghana.

Powered by Smirnoff, the Ghana DJ Clinic was a precursor event to the 12th annual Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, which champions the welfare of DJs and heavily facilitates development of the culture.

Gladys Osei Owiredu, Marketing PR Manager at Multichoice Ghana, shared insights on ‘The DJ’s brand and corporate affiliation; crafting identity, building alliances’. “DJs with strong, well-defined brands are more attractive to companies looking for influencers or ambassadors. Brands want to align with DJs whose image and values match their own, and a clear brand makes this alignment easier, she noted.

Mr Aaron Kuwornu, Northern regional Director of the Ghana Library Authority, advised DJs to devote time to reading, hinting “reading is a great tool in building business prospects as a creative”.

Halik Musah, a broadcast journalist and music who has been credited with the promotion of northern music stars including Fancy Gadam, laid emphasis on the need for DJs in the north to work assiduously towards breaking boundaries.

The Ghana DJ Clinic left attendees inspired and ready to take action and doubled as a unique networking hub for creatives who later interacted with the panel members of all the sessions.

The second phase of the Ghana DJ Clinic, preceding this year’s Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, is scheduled for September 7 at the Accra Tourist Information Centre. DJs from across the capital are eagerly anticipating the knowledge, opportunities, and partnerships that will emerge from this exciting event.

It is no doubt that history was made at the maiden edition of the much-publicized AMBUSA EXPERIENCE 2024, held at the Ritz Theatre in New Jersey last Saturday, August 3, 2024.

The event organized by the Abofrem Area Foundation celebrated African culture, arts and music, bringing together a diverse audience for a night of live performances by renowned Artistes.

AMBUSA EXPERIENCE 2024 featured an impressive lineup of performers, including headliners Sarkodie, Samini, and Efya together with Choirmaster, TeePhlow, Jamin Beats, QPee Vibes, Ama Ka’rin and 2Shy who delivered electrifying performances that captivated the audience.

DJ Mic Smith, DJ Gem and DJ Killer Fingers were on the turn tables to thrill fans with good music and keep them of their feet dancing throughout the night with IB, MC Ogee and Big Wu as hosts.

The event showcased the rich musical talents of Africa, blending traditional and contemporary music that resonated deeply with those in attendance.

Despite challenges such as late start due to heavy downpour and other technical issues stemming from miscommunication and mismanagement by the event hall staff, the show was a resounding success. The late start did not dampen the spirits of the attendees, who remained enthusiastic throughout the live band performances.

The Abofrem Area Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

We deeply appreciate the support and patience of the performers, attendees, supporters, and staff during the unforeseen circumstances.

The foundation acknowledges the issues encountered and is actively working to address them to ensure an even better experience in the future.

AMBUSA EXPERIENCE 2024 was a celebration of African music and culture, providing a platform for artists to showcase their talents and connect with their fans. The event highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural diversity and promoting African arts and music.

Peter Leahy, formerly known to music enthusiasts as Young Dapper, is a fast-rising emerging artist with budding reputations in the Ghanaian music circles. His unique combination of talent and ambition is a recipe that draws people like bees to honey, soliciting strong statements that he is going to leave a lasting impression on the industry.
Known by his real name, Peter Leahy, he decided to run his own independent music business, running his own label Cream De La Kush Records and not signing onto a major label.
He says that this keeps him closest to his vision of having full creative freedom and total control over his musical destiny.
After his feature with Kelvyn Boy, one of the finest in Ghana in the Afrobeat genre, Leahy developed an interest in the Ghanaian music industry.
He explained that the successful collaboration inspired him to come and explore more opportunities here in Ghana.
He divulged that the move to use the Ghanaian music market was great in his career, as it opened up his musical abilities and reach. Among his notable works are the two songs he did with Rachel Rose, wedding dress designer, globally renowned for her great work and had also made a name in music.


Collaborations such as “Rachel Rose” and “Energy” result from Leahy’s versatility and ability to meld different artistic influences into one piece.
Another standout single in his discography is “Something About Her”, which has over 70,000 streams on Spotify alone. This only fuels his growing reputation as a rising star.
He also collaborated with Kelvyn Boy on the track “Reloaded”, which added up to his growing list of successful projects.
After the release, “Reloaded” made it to iTunes’ top 10 songs in September 2023.
His next release with the Ghanaian music duo Keche is highly awaited and is believed to make waves as soon as it hits the streets.

Rotema is a Ghanaian-Nigerian singer born Joshua Ametor in Lagos, Nigeria but raised up in Koforidua,Ghana . Growing up, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson contributed to his musical influences. Due to this, he developed a passion for music from a tender age. He believes good music lasts an impression on him and plays a role in the impact of his life.

His other music influence stems from the fact that he grew up living with his grandmother, who was also heavily vested in music. He recounts moments when his grandmother played gospel music at dawn and also puts Peter Tosh’s music on rotation throughout the rest of the day. He passionately falls in the Afrobeats & Highlife music genres and does it well to his own capacity and expectation.

Eventually, his raw talent evolved into a more refined form which led to his professional career. In 2018, Rotema had his first encounter with a music recording studio. Prior to that, he has been doing music unprofessionally, this served as a memorable moment for him. His professional music career started this year 2024. For him, he enjoys the flow of good music, with or without the accompaniment of instrumentals. However, his mood also sets the tone for his music during his creative process in producing music. In his quest to attain a great feat, he describes himself as the musician who sharpens his musical prowess through constant research and learning.
