This year’s edition of Bass Awards an awards scheme dedicated to the Reggae & Dancehall aspect Ghana Music has received its fair share of criticisms.
One of the top nominated artiste, Ras Kuuku, after earning seven (7) has expressed his dissatisfaction about the renowned awards in a facebook post.

Blessed Morning Ghana Africa and beyond, from the start of Bass Awards I thought something good has come for me as a reggae/dancehall artiste most of my colleagues also had the same feeling, because we have been looking forward to such an award scheme,because Ghana Music Awards only give us one slot which is not enough for all the reggae/dancehall artiste in Ghana.
Now I supported the first edition of Bass Awards without charging 1 cedi I had the awards at heart I wanted it to be a success. Now here came second edition of the awards and due to the hard work of me and my team I topped the Bass Awards with 7 nominations, when Bass awards released their press statement they didn’t name me as the artiste who topped the awards. They released an official riddim for the awards called Infinity Riddim I did my version which was one of the best songs on the riddim. I had a call to come and record a cypher for the riddim at Rackus Production in Labone, I went there with my team after the cypher I wasn’t given anything not even money to for transportation I guess they didn’t care if I fly or craw back to home.
Last week I had a call from Bass Awards that they want me to perform on 29th at the stadium and they will offer me 1000GHS ($320) smh. I told them well I will have to talk with my team first,after discussing it with my team we got back to them and charged them 8000GHS ($2,500) they said they cant afford me so maybe next time. I guess all my colleagues(IWAN-STONEBWOY-JUPITAR etc.) who are not performing tomorrow has similar story to tell, sabotage is very deadly its like homicide. Well from the look of things I think we should have followed the steps of Samini who pulled out even before the nominations list came out. So my fans its not that I don’t want to perform they don’t want to pay me forgetting I work with a team and we have family to take care off.
