Ghana’s credentials as a peaceful nation is not in doubt, but some events leading up to the elections ranging from threats, assault, and vandalism of materials to hate speech especially in the media space have given cause for concern.
As we once again head to the polls on December 7, 2020 to elect our presidential and parliamentary candidates we wish to remind the citizenry especially voters in Tema and its environs to actively and peacefully participate in this democratic process.
It’s against this backdrop that Speech productions in collaboration with its media partners and musicians in Tema and inline with all Covid Protocols are organizing this special musical concert dubbed “Tema Peace Concert” on the 4th of December 2020 in Tema, Community 2.
Check Out : DJ Shiwaawa x Sarkodie x Kuami Eugene – Happy Day (Drill Version) (MANDEM Mix)
This concert is primarily to sensitize and motivate the voter population in Tema and its environs to come out in their numbers to vote on Election Day as their civic duty toward enhancing and strengthening democracy in Ghana. However this right to vote also comes with responsibilities and tolerance. The concert seeks to reiterate the need to maintain the peace within the metropolis during this period.
Religious and traditional leaders within Tema will be invited to deliver brief speeches intermittently during the concert. Aspirants from all political divides would be called upon to pledge their commitment to peaceful elections and the judicial resolution of election disputes. Personnel from the National Commission on Civic Education and other civic societies will educate voters on the rights and responsibility of a voter towards peaceful elections.
Elections in Ghana have become indispensable to strengthening the democracy we have all come to accept as the only alternative to development and Musicians within Tema will render songs as a demonstration of goodwill and shared commitment to promoting peaceful elections.
Ghana has often been heralded as a model of democracy and as Election Day approaches, Speech Production and Partners are committed to promoting a peaceful election especially within the Tema Metropolis before, on and after Election Day.
