Yaa Yaa’s soothing voice always has that magic pitch that will always melt one’s heart. Born Bertha Bridget Kankam, the 27-year-old singer sings effortlessly and always does a good job to weave her notes round people’s hearts.
On Tuesday, on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh, her rendition of Kojo Antwi’s ‘Nfa Me Nko Ho’ simply left many speechless.
That talent has seen her rise in the Ghanaian music scene with major collaborations including the all too popular Okyeame Kwame’s ‘Faithful’. Yaa Yaa started her career as Bertha, auditioning for ‘Stars of the Future’ in 2009 with Whitney Houston’s song, ‘Greatest Love of All’. She and her brother, Kankam, who both auditioned in Kumasi, made it to the semi-finals.
With the aid of her powerful voice, Yaa Yaa went on to win the competition.
Apart from ‘Faithful’, she is also known for ‘Kae’, ‘Dumb Drum’, ‘Koryor’ and her latest single ‘Life’ which is currently doing well on radio, across blogs and websites nationwide.
