The central region coastal town, Biriwa is set for major concert in the coming weeks, as the hitmaker and a couple of Ghana’s rising stars storm the annual Okyir festival.
Koo Ntakra together with Cape Coast own Orkortor Perry, with Dancehall sensation, Public Bigtune, Phrame, and the latest dancehall empress in town making waves, Renner among others have been billed to perform at this year’s Biriwa Okyir festival on October 17.
Bigtune Saturday Bash will be the climax of a week long festive period which is set to bring from near and far people from neighboring towns to witness the historic event to be held at Downtown Spot, Biriwa. The week long festival is to thank their ancestors and God for a fruitful fishing year and pray for a much better year ahead, as well as brings together families to see to various developmental agendas. Activities for the festival includes; Purification rites, cleanup exercise, Community Games competition, a carnival procession float of the town dubbed #AppleFriday, as well as the Saturday Bigtune Concert and a Sunday Beach jam.
Biriwa, is one of the ancient towns of modern day Central region, it has a great history of being among the first towns of Dutch settlers, over the years the fishing community has seen major face lifts in infrastructure and development, boosting among others, the 3 star Biriwa Beach Resort, a National Vocational Institute, and most recent the campus of Africa Institute of Maths& Science (AIMS) among others.
