LISTEN TO “PERFECT COMBI” & “NAANA” HERE
Unquestionably one of Ghana’s most exciting artists to surface in the last few years, King Promise continues his winning streak with the release of two brand new singles “Perfect Combi” – featuring London rising R&B star, Gabzy – and “Naana”.
Blending a range of sounds and influences, King Promise drops off one of the most contagious tracks of the year in “Perfect Combi”, serving up a glorious Afrobeat record comprising immaculate percussive elements and languid strings. Providing the perfect bed for King Promise to deliver his innate vocals and lyricism, the assist from one of
London’s most coveted rising R&B talents in Gabzy will be sure to continue the attention around both artists alongside setting dancefloors alight.
“Naana” similarly emerges as a gorgeous, lilting Afrobeats jam – with Promise lamenting the dynamics of a relationship that keeps coming back despite the hurt. “How many songs were inspired by you, how many tears were inspired by me… How many times were you done with this?” However it builds to a place where acceptance of each others’ flaws and perseverance mean more. “I don’t need me no perfection.”
Following widespread acclaim in 2018 with tracks like “CCTV” and his debut album As Promised, featuring fellow heavyweights Wizkid and Shatta Wale, the Ghanaian hotshot has since gone on to release a string of acclaimed releases including his sophomore album 5 Star released just last year, boasting monumental collaborations from Vic Mensa, Omah Lay, Chance the Rapper, Patoranking and, of course, British duo WSTRN on “Bad N Rude”.
With close to 2M monthly Spotify listeners, King Promise boasts over 24M singular streams on hit “Commando”, 29M streams on “Terminator” and 13M streams on his collaboration “10 Toes” with Omah Lay, leading to key tastemakers such as NOTION heralding the Ghanaian as being “In the Vanguard of Afrobeats”.Further support from the likes of CLASH, HUNGER MAGAZINE, BASEMENT APPROVED and TRIPPIN WORLD all points towards a singular artist continuing to garner a huge amount of attention across the globe.
With plenty more music promised over the next 12 months, King Promise looks set to continue the global attention around him as one of Ghana’s most compelling and visionary artists breaking ever further into UK and EU consciousness.
