Magnom has just released a new song called “Ei” on which he features Ghanaian rapper/trapper Kofi Mole. We could come up with and write about a deep profound message that the song communicates to the listener but we won’t because that’s not the point. The point is that “Ei” is an easy to sing along to jam that makes you want to drip your hardest period! “Ei” was produced by Yung D3mz.

Meet The Writer & Composer Of The All New VGMA Theme Song

About a week ago, Charterhouse Productions Ghana, organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Scheme released an all new theme song for the special 20th anniversary of the scheme and beyond.

Produced by Kaywa with top names like Amandzeba, Adina, Joe Mettle, Teephlow, Kidi and Kuami Eugene all on the track, we went behind the scenes to dig a little further into how the entire composition was done. “When I heard about the theme song contest, I had a chat with one of the young talents in my studio, he penned down a few words and we invited some musician friends who were interested and available to jump on it. Dave is a gem”- Kaywa

So who is this Dave who hasn’t been mentioned on this track at all?

Dave DA MusicBox, a.k.a. Eliel David Ofori-Atta, is a music producer, songwriter, recording artiste, music director and pastor.

Born on January 26 to missionaries Apostle Florence and Rev. George, Dave grew up in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He is the eldest of three siblings: a brother and a sister.

Dave started playing music in church at a very young age. And at age ten, he was already playing the drums. By his thirteenth birthday he had become the Head of the music and sound department in his church.

Tagging along with his uncles to gigs, concerts and studio sessions in his early teens, Dave quickly graduated from an amateur music environment to professional music production. Still in his teens, his love for all things percussion saw him collaborate on beats arrangements for rappers.

Dave was made music director and president of his university’s mass choir during his third and final year of studies. And right after moved into full time music production as director, producer and songwriter. He has since been working with both local and international artistes.

Dave is founder of DaveDaMusicBox, Co-Producer at GrooveHouse, He also performs with his friends and regular crew: the musicbox

“My music is more of a calling than a passion” he says. “It’s what drives me”. To him, the stage is a vehicle of positivity.

Dave has albums to his name. OUT OF THE BOX and the OUT OF THE BOX EXPERIENCE. Both feature a cocktail of African and urban contemporary rhythms and express a unique and honest approach to gospel music à la DaveDaMusicBox.

It may be pertinent to note that though acts like Teephlow, Kidi, Kuami Eugene and Amandzeba wrote their own lyrics, Dave’s structure was what set the entire tone for this master piece of a song to be created.

Others who worked on the track are listed below:

Kaywa (producer,) mixing and mastering engineer

Emmanuel Bludo (drummer)

Emmanuel Cobold (additional keyboards)

Emmanuel Selorm Dornyoh (Guitars)

Dominic Quarchie (Guitars)

Bass Player (Eliel David Ofori-Atta)

Background Vocals (Eliel David Ofori-Atta and Getrude Cobold)

The song, titled “OUR MUSIC LIVES” is available for free download online.

La Même Gang - This Year (Feat. Kuami Eugene)
La Même Gang – This Year (Feat. Kuami Eugene)

In contemporary times, the millennial music renaissance in Ghana is one that cannot be ignored. The La Même Gang is certainly a significant driving force in this revolution.
The Linksters are like the 1961 New York Yankees team; their run and form are simply untouchable and unassailable. With a new eclectic masterpiece featuring multiple hitmaker, Kuami Eugene, Cool Paul (Darkovibes), Keanu ($pacely) & Rocko (RJZ), the Linksters want to reiterate and establish how crucial their presence is to the Ghanaian music industry.

‘This Year’ in essence is simply a raw, pure and unadulterated synergy of musical greatness in it’s prime. Following their second studio album ”La Même Tape: Linksters”, ‘This Year’ is a courtesy call to all and sundry that, the La Même Gang is here to stay and continue being front showrunners of Afrobeat to world.

‘This Year’ is also a cryptic inspirational message to all linksters to always break systematic boundaries and keep it moving till they reach the pinnacle of their ambitions.

Mista Myles to be crowned prince of afrobeats with ‘African Girl’ music video

Mista Myles to be crowned prince of afrobeats with ‘African Girl’ music video

Mista Myles is undoubtedly one of the best young afrobeats singers we have in this generation now.

Mista Myles who recently put out his debut single; ‘African Girl’ has followed it up with an amazing video.

Shot by Director Kofi Awuah, the visuals capture the beauty of not the African Girls, but the beauty of Mama Africa itself.

Director Kofi Awuah made sure he projected the grasslands of Shai Hills, an animal reserve and Baboon sanctuary in a way that the world does not get to see every day; the sounds, culture, and landscapes to help with our tourism.

This music video is a visually stunning experience and is probably one of the best ones out of Ghana this year from MIMLIFE RECORDS.

Featuring dope production by NixieOfficivl, Mista Myles will definitely continue to prove that he is the new prince of Afrobeats in Ghana.

My Music Liberates The Soul – Quayku Dsoul

Quayku Dsoul
Quayku Dsoul

An emerging Afro Pop/Hiplife musician, QuaykuDsoul has stated that his music uplifts the souls and liberate them from unsettled situations.

QuaykuDsoul, born Gilbert Acquah is a Ghanaian born U.S based musician, has revealed that music must be food for the soul and strength for the body. Besides, music must go beyond words and beats.

According to him, being a musician requires that, your music should mean more than words and beats.

“Music should mean more than words and beats. Music must inspire, music must give you hope and liberates you from any kind of unsettled atmosphere. My mandate is to help people by uplifting their soul and inspire confidence. I believe as a musician when you sing, things must happen and there should be healing in the air and that’s exactly what my songs will do,” QuaykuDsoul said.

QuaykuDsoul started music from the very tender age of five (5), singing in the Primary school choir through to High School in Cape Coast. His unquenchable zest for music propelled him to form the music group called Atenteben in 1999 which included his older brother Michael Acquah and Samuel Oja Walker. The group worked extremely hard to make a name in the Central Region and Ghana as a whole.

The Hiplife/AfroPop crooner and songwriter is set to release his debut song OFORIWA.

Stephanie Benson’s brand image is opened to criticism not defeat

Stephanie Benson
Stephanie Benson

Speaking with BeenieWords, she emphatically affirmed “I’m not perfect. I never feel the need to criticize anyone, but if others feel the need to do so with me, I will always turn a negative criticism into a positive. But one thing I will never do is change myself for anyone. If I have to change who I am to be a role model then I do not deserve to be one”

There are many occasions critiques have crucified globally known jazz songstress Stephanie Benson for her stress – free, adventurous lifestyle, aplomb, ambiguity and disagreement. What it means is, ordinarily most women in the showbiz circle shy away from criticism but concise and emphatic Stephanie Benson begs to differ.

Check Out : Daddy Lumba – Adom (Afihyia Boa) (Feat Nana Acheampong)

On that note, let’s not turn blind eyes on the fact that, the creative circle is a competitive market. There’s no way you’ll fit in unless you stand out. To do that, it takes packaging, identifying target audience, strategic marketing and distribution plans, standout and unique image selling factor as well as staying original. That’s exactly what her brand has fed off over the years. On the contrary, had it not been her trait, staying original and true to herself by not following the crowd she wouldn’t have been this relevant and influential.

Enough with the negatives, focus of this article is to point out few reasons she will still be who she is and influential regardless of circulating perceptions and rumors about her. Here are 4 reasons :

• She has her own priorities, views about life, taste of preference as well as she’s entitled to personal opinion, choices and owns up to responsibilities. I’ll single out her brand image as a topic for discussion to establish a point. Ideally, before any individual (focus on artists) chooses a befitting brand the person already has an image in mind. Together with management team they evaluate and project it.

• Her husband, children, family and die – hard fans appreciate her artistry, what she represents and most importantly her imperfections is embraced. When one majors in a craft and become a connoisseur at it, he/she surely attract fans, lovers and supporters unconditionally. That being said, she’s always gingered up and busy to work harder, achieve her goals and put Ghana on the map with the support of the people mentioned above.

• She’s an accomplished composer, performer, voice coach, philanthropist and successful businesswoman.

• History can never be erased, she has captivated figures of earth – shattering pedigree including British royal household’s Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince William. The records are there to validate these facts but how many people are talking about it?

Instead of industry players coming together to collectively to reason up on how to get her talk business with foreign investors to pump monies into the creative industry to give it a colorful and respectful outlook based on her global exposure and connects. They are rather channeling that same energy, time and ideas to criticize her. It’s beautiful to appreciate people beyond our perceptions, how they looks, hearsays, what we expect of them and rather direct our focus and attention on mutual benefits and future possibilities.

To close the chapter, in case you don’t know, she is still putting Ghana on the global map. She recently joined forces with her old UK band, to record an album of Rock Steady music titled “City on Fire”. The said album just hit 160 countries. After 27 years, the creatives have started touring again, getting great reviews and readying to rock festivals.
