This Is Why Social Media Week Is Important To A Photographer

Social Media Week
Social Media Week

“Photography is an art of observation, it’s about finding something interesting in ordinary place, and it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with how you see them”

This ART has grown and developed in Ghana at a rapid pace. It has grown from pin-hole shoots to fill roll developed shots to today’s digital photography. Photography in this age is a whole new business. With the introduction of high-resolution cameras and lenses that captures every single detail in a split second has quickened the process from shooting to publishing on social media and Web sites.

Check Out : Sarkodie – Baby (Feat Mugeez)

Photography has always been a part of telling the larger Ghanaian story from the likes James Bannor, Felicia Abban and Philip Kwame Apagya through to Bob Pixel, Steve Ababio, Nana Kofi Acquah, Apag, Yaw Pare, Seun Adatsi, Photo Gerald, OAB and Mawuli Adjabeng to capture our history a click at a time, create conversation galamsey destroying water bodies, celebrate cultural happenings across the country, brand and sell Ghana through tourism as well as chronicling the daily struggle of Ghanaians. Photographers like and others continue to capture key issues.
Although the art continues to evolve with new upgrades (cameras, lens and filters) and improved old tricks become the new rules through social media and constant tech changes, storytelling will remain the same.

The audience journey has changed, the stories that are being told the same way has changed and therefore has become essential for new tools of which Social Media is very crucial. The process from shoot to the final image involves taking the audience through your journey from giving them behind the scenes to rare access through Instagram stories or SnapChat.
Hence it is essential to understand how to nurture this relationship. Photography is no longer the art behind the camera, it is as much about the relationship the audience develop as much as the final product and that is where Social Media Week, Accra comes in. There will be sessions on “how to build a digital career”, “Creating content people love”, and “The power of twitter” storytelling from September 11th to 15th. Kindly visit smwiaccra.org for more information.

Ebony currently above Sista Afia – GodWynn

GodWynn Sista Afia Ebony
GodWynn Sista Afia Ebony

There has been series of comparisons between the “Jeje” hitmaker Sista Afia and the “Sponsor” songstress Ebony, on who is the female most influential new comer and it seems everyone has his or her own opinion on who is better than who.

Check Out : Paa Kwasi – Y3bro Dada (Prod. by Otion)

GodWynn, who is currently preparing to release his latest song titled “Eazy” says, he will go for Ebony rather than Sista Afia.

According to GodWynn, if this question was asked somewhere last year, he’d rather say Sista Afia because of her choice of music and how she appealed to both the young and old but now that she has switched, he is going in for Ebony.

I will go for Ebony because the kind of songs she does relate to the youth more. Her appearance is another thing we as the youth like, regardless, and that “bad girl” tag on her is making us love her even more.

Talking about Sista Afia, Gordwin said,

Afia is good with a very powerful voice and when she started appealing to both the young and the old with songs like Kro Kro No with Bisa Kdei, Marry Me, YiWani ft Kofi Kinaata, She had our love and attention but all of a sudden, changed to something else and that divided her fans. Because I remember my old woman jamming to Kro Kro No all the time, but now she doesn’t get more of the previous Sista Afia again.

GodWynn will in few days time release his much awaited “Eazy” single, with production credit going to award winning sound producer, Kaywa.

The maiden edition of the Ghana Meets Naija UK has successfully come to an end, and Empire Entertainment organizers of the event seem to have entertained the whole of London last night.

Check Out : Pauli-B – Lady Don Dada (Remix) (Feat Ebony Reigns)

Comments from social media users suggest that the Ghana Meets Naija Uk was indeed one of the best events for Ghanaian and Nigerian music lovers.

Of course, to have a successful event like this, one needs a DJ who can turn up the place, and entertain patrons with songs they can easily relate to. And of course, in Ghana here, the Untouchable DJ, known as DJ Mensah is the perfect guy for that.

He is billed to perform in New York City, Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Hungary, etc

Aka Blay – Oshemu Ah Oye (Prod by Peewezel)

Oshemu Oye” which in the Ghanaian dialect of Twi/Fante means “If It’s In, It’s Good”, is the
newest BANGER by the legendary AKABLAY.

After his previous hit song “Take Away”, Akablay is back with a BANG on this one. Combining
intelligent song composition, with his ever great silky smooth and awesome guitar licks and riffs, mind blowing and controversial word play, and blessed with the production prowess of super producer and sound engineer, Peeweezle of CUE Musik, “Oshemu Oye” is definitely one for the books.

This song is a remake of the original track, “Oshemu Oyie” off his current Album, Edoke,
originally composed by Akablay and played with the ever vibrant ABIZA Band.
While some may have a different concept to this song, Akablay embeds a deeper meaning to the song as he cries a wake-up call to all Ghanaians to come together as one, to get involved in helping build a better nation.
Is this the most controversial song yet recorded by Akablay? Well let’s find out your thoughts about the song.
