Ghana’s one time hit singer, Sony Achiba has threatened to go on one-month demonstration if Charter House doesn’t reinstate Ghana’s Dancehall King, Shatta Wale into the VGMAs.
According to him, Charter House must stop settling their personal scores with the dancehall artiste and reinstate him.
Sony Achiba speaking from his UK-based submitted that Ghana Music Awards is not personal scheme, therefore organizers must settle their differences to win confidence in the industry.
The singer added that the posture of Charter House towards Shatta Wale doesn’t demonstrate a high sense of professionalism and he will stand up for the artiste, if he even needs to go on a one-month demonstration. Achiba insisted that Charter House Production cannot continue to kick out Shatta from awards, even though he has a number of songs hitting back to back.
“This is Ghana Music Awards. I’ve never heard anywhere in the world when we have music that is trending, you can’t kick the artiste out because you have a personal problem with him,” he said.
He, therefore, impressed upon them to change their stance on the issue or should prepare for the worst from him. “Maybe I have to do one-month demonstration against them. What they are doing is very bad. I say I will go on the one-month demonstration against them,” Sony Achiba warned.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale was banned from the VGMAs in 2014 after taking organizers to the cleaners on what he felt was wrong on the whole awards scheme. Five years down the line, Shatta Wale in an interview recently opened up that, he is prepared to go through due process in resolving matters with Charter House.
He, however, added that he had matured from some mistakes he made in the past but some defamatory comments against the organizers are still said to be featured in recently released songs like ‘Ayoo,’ ‘Taking Over,’ ‘Forgetti,’ ‘Slow Tempo,’ and ‘Hosanna.’

Social media went agog when one of Ghana’s young dominating rapper Koo Ntakra announced the official art cover for his upcoming album.
The Akwapem rapper through his official pages on social media unveiled the art work to the surprise of many after an earlier publication had it there was confusion in his camp ahead of a ‘big announcement’ of which many critics were anticipating to go in that direction, but turned out to be the other way.
Koo Ntakra’s ‘KOK’ which seems to be the acronym of ‘King of Kofcity’ and ‘King of Kings’ has a strong face of the rapper in a skull form placed in the ‘O’ of which is crowned. The cover and its inscription has already sparked controversy from the music populace, with some of the view he cannot use the ‘King of Kings’ tagline because of religious background, that, God is the only one to be called as such, others stating he is too young in the music game to claim such a title. Whiles majority of his fans online have welcomed the news with huge cheers and battle ready to push him to the apex of the game.
Meanwhile, insiders from his camp have hinted the ‘KOK’ album will be released in October and will feature some top shots and other international arts. The album is said to be a hip hop based dedicated to his core genre of music for which many know him for.
KOK album will be Koo Ntakra’s second album when released after he previously released the ‘Akuaba’ album in 2015.
Menzgold Company Limited, an investment company has denied the company takes deposits from its customers.
The Corporate Manager of the company Nana Yaw Offei explained that the company does not take deposits from customers because it is not a financial institution.
His comment comes on the heels of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) cautioning the general public not to deposit any money with the company because it has not been licensed to do so.
A Deputy Governor of the Bank Dr Johnson Asiamah appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament on Tuesday August 8, 2017 noted that Ghanaians who defy this caution do that at their own risk.
Dr Asiamah told the committee: “Only last week we caused a publication in the newspapers about Menzgold to the effect that we have not licensed them to accept deposits, because, to accept deposits, you will need a license from the Bank of Ghana. We have not licensed them and hence if you go ahead to do any business with them, it is at your own risk.”
He added that: “So we took the first step by notifying the public. If they ask you to give them deposit don’t do it.”
But reacting to the BoG claims in an interview with Valentina Ofori-Afriyie on the 505 news programme on Class 91.3FM on Tuesday August 8, 2017, Mr Offei said: “Menzgold Ghana Limited is a gold dealing firm, we buy gold and sell gold. All our operations or whatever we do in our outlet is directly linked to the sale and purchase of gold.
“For that reason we have acquired the license that gives us the chance to buy gold and sell gold that is by the Minerals Commission of the Republic of Ghana.
“We are not a microfinance, neither are we a financial institution and so we do not take deposits in anyway.”
He added: “We have referred the matter to our legal team headed by Kwame Akufo to look at the issue, we are a law abiding firm and so we are asking them to assist us to bring the issue to a close.”
