The Stone That VGMA Rejected Has Become A Cornerstone At Bass Awards

Reggae artiste Ras Kuuku of Puom Music is leading the Bass Awards list with 7 nominations. The artiste who has had a good year of music circulation, collaborations and hard work topped the charts with more nominations than the any other reggae dancehall artiste. Ras Kuuku was nominated for: Best song of the year, Best performer, Music video of the year – Reggae, Best Collaboration – reggae, and Reggae song of the year, Artiste of the year and Reggae Artiste of the year.

The question on my people lips is why his song “Father” was not nominated in the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, do we take it that Chatter house board members don’t know anything about reggae/dancehall? Or they are just lazy in their research? Maybe they need some of the Bass Awards Board members to educate them more on roots reggae and dancehall music, seriously because how come a song that wasn’t nominated in the just end VGMA tops Bass Awards, an award scheme designed to reward Reggae and dancehall music in Ghana.

Seems the stone that the builders rejected has become a cornerstone here, I have sat down to listen  songs by this artiste Ras Kuuku it appears to me he is a great talented artiste who understands his genre of music (reggae/dancehall), knows how to deliver and especially compose but needs external forces to get attention (I might be wrong). Ghana and the rest of the world need to hear this music I’m listening to his song Ghana as I type and this is a song that will sell Ghana worldwide.

Ras Kuuku’s niche is in his message, composition and ability to write music out of day to day activities. I have listened to so many reggae songs both local and, international and I can say for a fact that if it come good reggae music from Ghana, Ras Kuuku is one of the best.

I just had a Dj friend walked in and he was also amazed with the high level of quality music Ras Kuuku produces and even said that the artiste has improved tremendously.

One fascinating thing about Kuuku’s music is the last bit of the songs his colleague Jah Shock is able to poetically and rhythm wise add a depth wise saying to the song and always the content of that message goes with the main music.

Ras Kuuku is an artiste Ghana and the international reggae music market need to listen to because he has what it takes to wave the flag of Ghana high.

Organizers of Ghana music awards, this is an artiste you should be unveiling to the music business, he has talent, message and very professional in his delivery.
