JETEY: Am the new face of Afro POP Music
…Ghana’s music should have its cultural roots

An American based musician born of Ghanaian origin who goes by the name of Eugene Adjetey A.K.A “JETEY” which is his stage name, has made emphatic revelations on his musical career as the next biggest thing to hit the Ghanaian music industry.
According to him, the Ghanaian music industry needs to stay original not devoured of copying any other style but being true to African origin and most importantly music that will make Ghanaians everywhere proud.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with this reporter, the Twi Pop or Afro Pop musician has observed that, Ghanaian music is being put in a paradigm which does not go as far to have an impact in the international music industry. Our Celebrities are famous for their brands and not their music.
According to him Ghanaian music should be made to have a unique root identity and distinct make without copying any style of music from another country.
“We were blessed with a music style called AZONTO yet we could not hold on to it and now when AZONTO is being mentioned it is associated with Nigerian musicians which to me is very incorrect. Our music heritage should be held up higher no matter what”, JETEY added.
The musician further cited that, the creation of our music should be able to test the times and seasons which we currently find our global world revolving in. As young lad growing up, he listened to the works of Buk Bak; especially Bright, who he deems his favorite artist from Ghana- of all times, Kojo Antwi, Kwadee, and finally Lord Kenya.
What type of music do you do?
Professionally he has pursued music for the past four years now. The type of music I do is world music, but I try to incorporate Hip Life, R&B and Twi Pop. I do sometimes medley in Hip Pop beats. My music has versatility which has English, Twi , Pidgin English and Ga language. In all I can say I do Afro Pop Music.
What is new in your career?
I have an E.P out called Definition, it is an introduction to my upcoming debut album, or perhaps mainstream singles. I have been able to put together eight singles. They are 1. God Bless Our Hustle (G.B.O.H), 2. Boga 3.Ntsee Otsui,(Ga), 4.Jump up 5 Currency etc.,
These songs were produced by music producer KobyStaxx in the United State of America.
Do you intend to work with any Ghanaian producer?
I was honored to open up for Stonebwoy at his concert in Ohio, and my team made it possible to reach out to BeatzDakay, and we successfully worked on a song call Otanwu, “I really anticipate the release of this tune, it’s mad.” Some of the artists I intend to work with include EL, Joey B, Sarkodie and Mr. Eazi.
I believe these artistes mentioned are musicians who do music in their own individual way. I have identified them as musicians with a lot of skills and diversity and they will add more to my musical career.
He just released his first official single title: ONE MORE NIGHT. The American based Ghanaian artist stated that with the help of my Agent G.W.L representing and promoting my music in Ghana and the rest of the world, nothing will stop him from getting the Ghanaian music to a greater height he said.
