Fast rising Reggae/Dancehall artiste Mercy Renner better known as Renner, has referred to herself as the dancehall Queen.
The Central music Awards best female vocalist of the year Renner in a rendition of Shatta Wale’s Ayoo referred to herself as the dancehall queen. In the original song Shatta Wale said Dancehall King but in the reggae rendition Renner changed King with Queen.
The rendition which has even been endorsed and posted by Shatta Wale further buttresses her stand as the Dancehall Queen.
If that is not proof enough, Renner matched her male dancehall counterparts boot to boot on Edem’s new tune Roll.
Renner has in a short pace established herself not only as a great vocalist but also a true performer. In as much as the lyrics in her song might be a harmless statement, her works are gradually pushing her to the level of a true dancehall Queen.

Wednesday, July 5 – Celebrated Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall Musician, Stonebwoy, known in private life as “Livingstone Etse Satekla”, will be engaging various cocoa farming communities in the Volta Region this Thursday, July 6, 017 together with the MASO Team. Also lined up with this initiative, the 2-time BET Awards Nominee (Stonebwoy) would be giving a brief concert for the people of Akome Gborta, in the Ho West Constituency, where the programme would be held. He touched down from the USA after honouring the 2017 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards in Los Angeles.
About MASO
MASO, an innovative programme targeting young people in cocoa growing communities is organising a series of activities in the Volta Region from July 6 to7,2017. The activities are to create an opportunity for Stonebwoy- the MASO Brand Ambassador – to interact with participants in the MASO Programme and their communities. MASO focuses on creating employment opportunities for youth aged 18 to 25 in the Ashanti,Brong Ahafo,Western,Central and Volta Regions.
The goal of MASO is to empower the youth to be drivers of change in the cocoa sector by making cocoa farming and businesses in cocoa growing communities, an economic career choice for them. MASO trains and mentors beneficiaries of the programme to become professional cocoa farmers or service providers to support the cocoa industry in their communities.
MASO is part of the Youth Forward Initiative (YFI) which is a partnership between The MasterCard Foundation, Overseas Development Institute, Global Communities, Solidaridad, NCBA-CLUSA and GOAL.The “Youth Forward Initiative” brings together multiple organizations to train and help transition young people into sustainable jobs in the construction and agricultural sectors in Ghana and Uganda.
Since 2016, MASO has implemented two academies, The MASO Agro Academyand Business Academy. The MASO Agro academy trains young people tobecome a profession cocoa farmers . The MASO Buiness Academy , trains young to become professional service providers in the cocoa sector in the communities. The two academies provides enterpreneural , life skills, mentoring and coaching . So far , a total of 4758 number of youth have joined the two MASO academies. Almost 2000 are about graduating either as professional cocoa farmers or service providers in the cocoa sector in tehir communities. An additional 2759 enrolled in the two academies this year.
In 2016,Solidaridad appointed Stonebwoy as its Brand Ambassador MASO. As Brand Ambassador, Stonebwoy is supporting the overall objective of creating career opportunities for youth in the cocoa sector. Stonebwoy is using his influence to promote MASO at the national level aswell as encourage Ghanaian youth to establish careers in the cocoa sector.
A trip has been planned by Solidaridad in collaboration with Stonebwoy to visit select participating communities in the Volta Region from July 6 – 8, 2017.

Songstress Sista Afia has stated clearly that she has not slept with the boss of SM4Lyfe, Shatta Wale.
Speaking on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelx show, she said the ‘Dancehall King’ hitmaker has not made any attempt to sleep with her and she believes he will not think of doing that. According to the ‘Jeje’ singer, Shatta Wale is always thinking of how to help her music career instead of admiring her voluptuous body.
Afia told Zionfelix, host of the show that she would not begrudge anybody who thinks they have had sex because it is normal for people to arrive at such conclusion judging from the fact that they are always seen together. She added that she would not do anything with the ‘Dancehall King’ hitmaker because she sees him as a big brother. At a press conference organized to unveil the new signees of the firm on 30th June, Mr. Enoch Atakora, Head of Productions, Zylofon Media told the gathering that, one of the topmost objective of the company is to sponsor movie productions in Ghana and also to collaborate with all production houses. This he said will not only improve the kind of movies produced locally but will help Ghana compete effectively on the international market.
Enoch asserted that by sponsoring these movies, the faces of Zylofon (Zylofon satrs) get to be considered as first choice casts for those particular movies.
He went ahead to list Toosweet Annan, Zynell Zuh, Bibi Bright, Benedicta Gafah and James Gardiner as the first batch of actors the label has signed. Mr. Enoch Atakora stated that Zylofon has a three year contract with these actors, however they are free to undertake their individual projects.
As part of the signing package, there are strategic measures put in place to manage and lobby for gigs for the signed actors.
Sammy Flex, Public Relations Officer, Zylofon Media revealed to the press that, not only is it the agenda of the company to invest in music but also to produce movies. He stated that a lot of fortunes are being made out of movies although most people are of the view that, the movie market no more exists.
He also said that as it stands Zylofon is not signing on musicians till further notice as it is channeling some of its resources to the movie industry.

Kweku Sarpong Plahar, is best known for his exploits, during his reign as Prince of Pop. The musician popularly known as Zigi, became the most sort after feature in the Ghanaian industry and went on to win Afro Pop Song of the year at the 2012 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
