I don’t need congratulatory message from Shatta Wale – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy
Stonebwoy

Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy says he is content with congratulatory messages he has received from Ghanaians and colleagues and does not need one from Shatta Wale.
While many believe that Shatta Wale should put his differences with Stonebwoy aside and congratulate him on his nomination for the 2017 edition of Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, latter says he should save it.

The ‘Go Higher’ hit singer will be competing with Wizkid (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Tekno (Nigeria), AKA (South Africa), Nasty C (South Africa), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), and Babes Wodumo (South Africa) for the award this year.
After winning the award at the 2015 edition, Stonebwoy expressed worry in a post on Instagram that Ghana received only a nomination in this year’s awards while Nigeria and South Africa have four and three nominations respectively because of the lack of unity in the industry.
Shortly after the nominees were announced, several persons took to social media platforms to troll Shatta Wale for missing out on the awards again this year.
Shatta Wale reacting to the nominations said he was not worried about missing out. In a series of posts on Twitter and Facebook, he urged his fans not to be upset about the development.
“I dont want any fan of mine to feel bad about any BET…My skin is too strong now for such Nkwasias3m from this educated fools in our industry..” he said.
His comments received widespread condemnation from pundits and the general public who believed that Shatta Wale could have at least, put their differences aside and congratulated Stonebwoy.
Speaking in an interview on Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh, Stonebwoy revealed that “a lot of people sent in tweets… a number of people posted it up…” but he does not a congratulatory message from Shatta Wale.
Touching disunity in the industry, the dancehall act explained that, “We don’t have to be friends but we should also remember that we are doing the same business so if we can. On the professional side of things, all things come together to make it work – the rumours, the fights – but how professional are we about that?”
“At a point like this, I feel so happy and elated but I’m not filled with pride…” he said.
In the spirit of fostering unity, the ‘Baafira’ hit singer said he called Shatta Wale on stage at the 4Syte Music Video awards. “Who does that. You have to be a pro to do that. You have to let aside all other things to lead.”
Stonebwoy tapped his chest and stressed that he is the first ever African artiste to win BET Award and any attempt to “disregard it as much as you can, only shows you are envious. That only shows how weak you are because that is what I faced over the time and I decided to keep mute about it and smile.”

Ebony vrs EduEnter Group Ghana; What Really Happened

Ebony Reigns
Ebony Reigns

Whenever a promoter of an event decides to book an artiste for an event, there is an agreement which is signed. All parties involved need to make sure they perform their duty to ensure its success and create a healthy relationship.

Check out : Ebony – Poison (Feat Gatdoe) (Prod. by B2)

Bullet of Ruff & Smooth (CEO Ruff Town Records) as well as Allen Kofi Anti (Brands Manager) and EduCenter signed an agreement for Ebony to perform at the Takoradi Technical University GNUTS Awards Night which was to be held on 20th of May, 2017. The organizers in the contract were supposed to fulfill their duty as at 19th of May but pleaded with Ebony and her team to come to Takoradi with the assurance that everything will be sorted out before the performance takes place.

Ruff Town Records publicist Kofi Anderson (Xerda) and a rep from the team arrived at 4pm to ensure everything was set for the event. The rest RuffTown & AVO team followed up with Ebony as the organizers had promised to settle the rest of the agreement. As at 10pm, they still had not fulfilled their part of the contractual agreement. 2 extra hours was given as an opportunity to make things right. Unfortunately they wanted to play smart and in the end, the team decided to leave since the level of disrespect was bad.  A risk was taken by leaving Takoradi at 12am just to arrive at Accra by 4am. She went to her residence and not a birthday party as some people are insinuating.

Ebony never had any contact with the students of the Takoradi Techinical University as the lodge was quite a distance from the campus. The female dancehall act was ever ready to perform at the Takoradi Technical University Awards Night GNUTS but circumstances didn’t allow it.

Starr FM’s Anita Erskine Adjudged Female Radio Presenter Of The Year At Ghana Entertainment Awards In The USA

Starr FM’s Anita Erskine has won the coveted title of Female Radio Presenter of the year in the just ended Ghana Entertainment Awards in the USA.

Erskine, who is one half of Accra’s most excitable radio duo, Giovanita on the Starr Drive, was in an extremely competitive category, which had some of the major female players on Accra’s urban radio landscape.

Anita Erskine made a grand entrance onto Ghana’s radio scene in 2015, when she was unveiled as The BossLady, seated next to Bola Ray on the Starr Drive.

After more than a decade of working in the Media, it was her first mainstream, commercial radio hosting opportunity. Prior to that, she worked on Toronto’s first ever Urban radio Flow 93.5 FM as the host of The Word, Flow’s award winning weekly radio gospel program.

After two years of using her gift of speech and unique voice to entertain, inform and motivate listeners, Erskine has developed a deeper passion for radio than she envisioned she would.

“Radio is a powerful tool. It is the one unique medium that is able to penetrate corners of every community and society even in the most dire of circumstances. Truth be told, television for me is the spine of my existence.

However, I am extremely attached to my radio life and in awe of how effective it is in my quest to use my voice to change the world” says Anita Erskine.

Undoubtedly Anita and Giovanni Caleb make an electrifying radio couple, since the latter took over from Bola Ray in 2016. Their partnership has carved a niche that no one even knew existed – a Drive Belt jointly hosted by a Male and Female. The duo has an exhilarating and thriving way of entertaining their audience no matter the climate!

Anita Erskine is a bonafide Pan African broadcaster with a keen eye and a finger on the pulse of Women’s Affairs, Girls’ Education and Youth driven Entrepreneurial pursuits. Her television shows are globally acclaimed. Winning this award also comes at a time, when the Boss Lady is about to launch a new radio endeavour.

“I am humbled by this recognition. I absolutely have to use this opportunity to thank God for choosing to give me this voice. My team is essential to my success – Giovanni, Vyrusky and David Dei Awuku my producer are on a constant path to keep me at my best and I am grateful.”

Anita Erskine can be heard on Starr 103.5FM daily from 2pm to 5pm on the Starr Drive. She owns and runs Anita Erskine Media – a boutique communications consultancy and is the founder of the Women’s Elevation Fund which provides education scholarships and tuition bursaries for exceptionally gifted but needy Girls across Africa.

Music Review: Halle Halle by Ennwai

Introduction: The perception of gospel music being exclusive to just a certain ‘church-people’ is gradually getting displaced by some artistes.

Former member of music duo Dobble, Ennwai, has released a song that praises God. It is a beautiful song you would love to listen to.

Instrumentation: The song, titled ‘Halle Halle’ is in a highlife vein and is sung in Key B Flat Major. The sound quality is good. The production was done by, Itz CJ, one of the fastest growing music producers in Ghana.

Song arrangement and style: ‘Halle Halle’ starts with an intro that has strings and some piano works. He comes in to sing in Pidgin English and Twi telling how God has changed him from bad to good. After that, comes the chorus again. There is an interlude before the second verse. Another chorus comes and them the songs slips into instrumentation till fade.

He also employs rhymes so much in his verses; the type of rhyme that is typical of rap.

Vocals: Ennwai sings in his usual ‘Dobble’ style. He may not be counted among the top vocalists in Ghana but he did justice to the song with his vocal ability. The harmonies also come out well and make the song so soothing to the ears.

Content: He talks about God taking him from the slums and making him better than before. He says because of God’s goodness, he will sing ‘Hallelujah’ to his name. It has a chorus that can easily be sung along; that is the trick to having a hit song. Simple and catchy choruses travel faster.

Morale: The song affirms the beliefs of the religious person. It tells one to be thankful to their God for they good they have done for them. In Christianity that is one of the main purposes of worship. It is believed that adoring and thanking God makes Him open more doors of blessings for you.

Is ‘Halle Halle’ a gospel song?: What is gospel or not has over the years been limited to whether or not a particular song can be performed at church or has been composed by a ‘church-person.’

‘Halle Halle’ is a real gospel song that is done in a style that is more marketable to the contemporary gospel lover.

It may not be performed in church because of the Ghanaian hypocrisy but I have always said, what a song is, made up of is more important than what it is called.

Conclusion: I rate ‘Halle Halle’ song 76%.
