Merqury Quaye Live DJ Concert Set for December 24

All is set for the much-awaited Merqury Quaye Live concert in Ghana slated for Sunday, December 24 at the Laboma Beach Resort in Accra.

Sunday’s live concert comes after Merqury Quaye’s sold-out concert at the same venue in March.

Organizers of the concert, Team Spirit Ghana and partner Merqury Republic are promising an indelible mark in the minds of more than 5,000 music lovers and enthusiasts who will throng the venue as Ghana cements its position as the hotspot of top-notch entertainment events.

Merqury is expected to perform his biggest hits including ‘Turn Up’ and ‘Discuss’ to his devoted fans and the audience cannot expect anything less than a swell time and an experience they would not forget in a hurry.

Although this will be Merqury’s second show at Laboma, having made his debut in March, the pending show will be his first to be held in December and also the first performance after producing the 11th edition of Africa’s Biggest DJ Event, the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, which had Shatta Wale as the headline performer.

The ‘Discuss’ crooner will give the audience the opportunity to enjoy his music and songs from some of the hottest singers on the African music scene with a one-hour, non-stop DJ mix performance.

Other DJs billed to perform include DJ Lord, DJ Ikon, DJ Matic, DJ Spices, DJ Legend, DJ Toyor and DJ Fantastic.

Who is Merqury Quaye?

Merqury Quaye is a Ghanaian-born DJ, singer, MC, songwriter, radio/TV presenter, music producer and executive at Merqury Republic Productions and is known for his powerful stage presence and infectious voice on radio.

He began his musical career as a member of the Mec-Tang Clan, a group he formed with friends from his senior high school, later became a member of Media Shuttle Entertainment, a conglomerate of talented DJs and later started his production label, Five Mics Entertainment.

He went on to produce demos for promising acts including Jupita, OD4, Adam and recorded 3 songs on Tic Tac’s 1oth Day album.

Merqury Quaye has worked as a DJ or presenter with the biggest names on the media landscape in Ghana including Joy 99.7FM, Atlantis Radio 87.9FM and currently hosts the evening drive on Hitz 103.9FM, as well as the Hot Pics DJ show on Joy Prime TV.

He has also shared stage with many international artistes along the way, including Nas, Shaggy, Fat Joe, Akon, etc.

In 2012, Merqury Quaye founded the Ghana DJ Awards to promote and celebrate DJs. He also created an empowerment program for DJs known as Ghana DJ Clinic.

His advertising and event production firm, Merqury Republic hosts a number of events annually to empower and promote music talents in Ghana and beyond.

Merqury Quaye is a prominent figure in the African music scene and has been a pioneer in cultivating a love for DJs across the globe.

Two unapologetic Ghanaian Reggae a musicians who have defied a lot of odds in recent times to move into the mainstream visibility are Konkarah Jahvybz and Ras Kuuku. These 2 stalwarts have since time immemorial stood their grounds to stand for positive and soul uplifting music within the Reggae and Dancehall circles.

Both artistes have joined forces under a new jam produced by CaskeysOnit titled “Jah Lives”. This is a song they have released to close the year.

“Jah Lives” by Konkarah which features Ras Kuuku is a caution song to still instill the message of steadfastness in the ghetto youths in the face of recent economic hardships. Both used their powerful lyrics to advise the youths to still believe in God Almighty and never give up.

Konkarah Jahvybz got into mainstream spotlight this year (2023) when he got nominated for Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with his song “A Go Dey” featuring Kelvyn Boy for the “Reggae/Dancehall Song Of The Year” Category. For many musicians, Christmas is always a good time to drop something new and Afrobeats artiste, Francis Dogbey known by the stage name, Wakayna has done that with the release of a single, Skolom.

Dropping a song for Christmas has perhaps become a ritual for Wakayna who announced his presence with his debut Africa Nice in 2019.
Since then, the artiste who has a decent following continues to shower listeners with a song every December and hopes Skolom, which came out on Thursday, December 7th will be a good jam this Christmas.

Rendered in an Afrobeats vein, Skolom tells listeners the love story of a young man professing his unconditional affection for his love interest.

For him, using sweet words to woo the lady is a genuine gesture of his true feelings for her but not to ‘hit and run’ since he has fallen deeply in love with her.

Skolom is about love which is a very common subject for musicians to sing about. However, Wakayna believes the song produced by himself and mixed and mastered by Posigee, shares a deeper message of love.

He says, “For many people, love has become a common four letter word but for me, nothing beats love. And the bond of love is more valuable when shared between two people who appreciate and adore each other.

“Christmas is a season of love so with Skolom, I want people to appreciate their partners, for the young men who want to grab, they should be bold about their moves”, he said.

Wakayna announced his presence in December 2019 with Africa Nice, getting considerable attention with his craft.

However, in 2020, the outbreak of Corona virus dealt a heavy blow to his blossoming career. That notwithstanding, he dropped some songs such as Never Give Up, Bob Marley and Black Lives Matter featuring Don Husky.

In January this year, he released the video of Craze Mad which caught on well and he is very confident Skolom will further his gains on the music scene.
