Stonebwoy – Into The Future (Official Video)

Grammy-nominated Ghanaian dancehall and reggae superstar Stonebwoy has just dropped a larger-than-life music video for song INTO THE FUTURE off his billboard charting album 5th DIMENSION (April 28th).

As the fourth single from his latest full-length album, 5TH DIMENSION, the track is breaking new ground in social media spaces, amassing more than 250 000 organic creations on TikTok since its release in April. This and other recent successes for the artist have made this single release a no-brainer for record company Universal Music Group, who recently signed the artist for the continent via the label, Def Jam Africa, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings USA and 0207 Def Jam for the UK.

The INTO THE FUTURE video is anchored by a stellar track. The single was produced by German multi-platinum selling, Grammy-nominated collective Jugglerz – producers and DJ’s that have taken the dancehall genre to new heights in Europe.

Recorded in Berlin in the summer of 2022, the track is the perfect modern love song that combines a positive lyrical message of togetherness for the long-haul with all the right dancehall flavours. Like so much of the recent work being released by this African megastar, it is uplifting and energized with just the right amount of sex appeal to keep dancefloors alight around the globe.

Shot in Stonebwoy’s hometown of Accra by Ghanaian-born and long-time collaborator, JWillz, the video uses a love story to drive the narrative between a young couple from their school days until marriage. The exquisite styling and treatment lend a retro-cool look-and-feel to the sweet tale of wholesome love.

With fashion and styling on point, authentic African locations, beautiful landscapes, and our star driving it with an energized performance, the video is aesthetically driven from start to finish, making it one of Stonebwoy’s most stand-out offerings to date.

Sarkodie was Not Ready to Be A Father – Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has dropped a bombshell at her book launch on Father’s Day. The book titled “I AM Not Yvonne Nelson” revealed that she became pregnant with the Tema-based rapper in 2010.

The said rapper mentioned here in the memoir is no other than Sarkodie. The actress recalls the moment with vivid detail, stating,  “I had gone for a pregnancy test to confirm what becomes the most obvious conclusion for a sexually active young woman who misses her monthly flow. I was in the company of Karen. And when the test result was ready, I wasn’t strong enough to open it. She did and declared the verdict. Charlie, it dey there!”

According to her, it was due to the rapper having another girlfriend, forcing a decision to terminate the pregnancy.

“On an ordinary day, I would have laughed out loud and that would trigger a string of jolly conversations and jokes. But this was no laughing matter. It was a grim piece of information that was capable of turning my world upside down. I wasn’t the only one responsible for the situation, so I called the man whose potent seed had germinated in me. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, a renowned Ghanaian musician who is better known as Sarkodie.“

Naana Blu, the talented singer known for her enchanting highlife music, has expressed her hope that the younger generation of Ghanaian youth will embrace highlife as a genre for everyone, rather than associating it solely with the older generation.

Fresh off of his recent performance in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire for the 50th Anniversary of World Environment Day with the United Nations Environmental Program, legendary Ghanaian musician and activist Rocky Dawuni will be heading to the US for a series of shows starting with NYC for a very special performance at SOB’s on Saturday, July 8th!! This intimate full band show is not to be missed!! Rocky will then be appearing on Sunday, July 9th at Music Haven in Schenectady in upstate New York as well as at Grand Performances in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 22 for the much anticipated Afro Funke’ 20th Anniversary Celebration presented by KCRW.

Rocky has been touring the world having just been in Costa Rica, the US and Ghana spreading his positive “Afro Roots” sound. The 3x GRAMMY nominated artist just released a brand new video which premiered on Pan African Music for his collaboration with Ghanaian Highlife sensation Kyekyeku entitled “Africa Till I Die” which is on heavy rotation in Africa and beyond!

“Africa Till I Die is a musical success. It blends the native sound of Ghana, itself the product of a melting pot, with reggae born in Jamaica and claiming its African roots. The highlife rhythm has been slowed down and, by letting the bass flourish, the organ and the horns place their punctuations, offers a perfect backdrop for the reggae vocals, without even a skank guitar. This is the finest demonstration of a successful encounter, and it could only take place in Africa” – Pan African Music.

Rocky recently featured on a smokin track called “Afreeca The Future” with world renown group Morgan Heritage from Jamaica alongside Lord Alajiman of Daara J fame from Senegal as part of their brand new “The Homeland” album. The album features an amazing list of artists from all over the African continent! “Musically, they take the listener on a journey that not only reminds them of days past, but the future ahead.”

Earlier this year, Rocky Dawuni was nominated for his third GRAMMY Award for “Best Global Music Performance” for his single “Neva Bow Down” featuring Blvk H3ro from Jamaica. Rocky has more exciting collaborations coming up this year out of Africa and is currently working on his 9th studio album continuing to build on his signature sound bringing much needed conscious music to unite generations and cultures!

Ghanaian Singer Darkua’s Release Soulful New Single ECHO

Ghanaian Afrofusion Artiste, Darkua has released her new single ECHO which marks her debut single for 2023. The new single is produced by the talented Ghanaian producer Viqtorioz who also produced Darkua’s debut single “Amalelor”.

Darkua takes listeners on a voyage of sexual self-discovery while enticing them to take control with her sultry voice. With the seamless fusion of Afrobeats and R&B, Darkua solidifies her identity as a musician who transcends genres.

ECHO is a perfect addition to any late-night intimate playlist, setting the tone with her soothing harmonies and vocals.

Speaking on the single, Darkua says;

ECHO’ is a song attributed to women being confident enough to have sexual conversations with their partner; telling them how they want to be pleased. Most women get shy when it comes to communicating how they want to be satisfied by their partners; hence, going with whatever their partners want. ‘ECHO’ is telling such women to be confident in telling their partners how they want it and not to be reluctant about being in control when they want to be.

The song has received massive support from streaming platforms globally. On Audiomack, Darkua is the face of On The Radar; Afrosoul. On Spotify, Darkua is the cover for Spotify Sizzlers. On Boomplay she is on the cover of Girl Vibes Playlist.

Being a Ghanaian/Nigerian-born musician, the blend of these two cultures has given her the opportunity to be influenced by A.B Crenstil, E.T Mensah, Lagbaja, K.K Fosu, and Weird MC.
