From setting up a widows’ support initiative – Help A Needy Widow – to starting a television programme, Christiana Hati has officially launched her debut single “Testimony” to kick off her music career.

“Testimony” would introduce her to the song ministration audience with influential lyrics and captivating melodies.

Explaining the reason for the song “Testimony”, Christiana Hati had this to say (below);

“I suffered a lot of illnesses as a child and The Lord delivered me from them all. Also I have survived car accidents, spiritual attacks, financial breakdowns to the point, depending on God was my only source; and He never let me down. So, feeling sad about how some Christians of today go from place to place looking for answers to their problems and not knowing that the answer is within (them), I thought of creating a guide in the form of music, encouraging them and leading the discussion as I premier Hati Testimonies TV (my TV Show), to lead people to share their stories of how they survived it all. The song ‘Testimony’ is very appropriate as a background song, and also to be used as a manifestation of what God has done in my life.”

Mr Eazi
Mr Eazi

Mr Eazi shares new music today along with the title for his long-awaited, decade-in-the-making debut solo album. “Advice,” produced by Ghana’s M.O.G. Beatz, is the latest single from the freshly named The Evil Genius, set for release on Oct. 27, 2023. The 16-track album is now available for pre-order HERE: https://empawaafrica.lnk.to/TheEvilGenius.

Mr Eazi is the latest artist to be featured in Vevo’s original content series Ctrl., with a stirring, defiant performance of the drill-infused “Advice” out today in support of the track’s release. Watch HERE.

The lyrically dense “Advice” namechecks a number of African martyrs including former Democratic Republic of the Congo president Joseph Kabila and Ken Saro-Wiwa, a Nigerian writer and activist whose 1995 hanging inspired domestic and international outrage. “I was coming from a place of having that energy,” Eazi says.

Recorded over a two-year period between Ouidah and Cotonou, Benin; Kigali, Rwanda; Accra and Kokrobite, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; London; Los Angeles; and New York City, The Evil Geniusfeatures some of Mr Eazi’s most personal work, as he dives deeply into subjects like love, betrayal, loneliness, and family, expressed through three distinctive acts.

In a first-of-its-kind fusion of African music and art, Mr Eazi commissioned visual artists from across the continent to create a unique, physical art piece to represent each of the album’s 16 tracks. For “Advice,” he tapped Nairobi, Kenya-based artist Alphonce Odhiambo, known as Alpha ODH, whose acrylic painting speaks to the track’s defiant lyrics.

Mr Eazi personally handpicked 13 artists, representing eight African countries, inviting them to collaborate in a process he describes as ‘informal and instinctual’.

“Inviting artists to create for the album was from my passion for creativity and expression,” Mr Eazi said. “The artworks visually unlock the ideas, emotion, and energy within my music.’

The artworks created for the album will be featured in a multi-sensory exhibition experience, which debuts in Accra, Ghana, from Sept. 13-17, before heading to 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House in London from Oct. 12-15. ATTC Students Face Suspension after Appearance in music video with School uniforms

Friday, 1st September, 2023- A group of tertiary students is currently at the center of a controversy that has raised eyebrows within their educational institution, Accra Technical Training Centre. These students, known for their impressive dance moves that previously went viral within their school premises, are now facing suspension for their participation in a music video produced by Ghanaian Afrobeatz sensation OliveTheBoy.

What has sparked outrage is the fact that they appeared in the video wearing their school uniforms.

The students, who gained fame for their dance talents following a dance routine on Ghanaian dancehall artist, Stonebwoy’s “Apotheke” song within the confines of their school, took their performance skills outside the campus this time. They featured in OliveTheBoy’s latest music video “Goodsin” that includes “explicit” themes, particularly focusing on sexual affairs, a far cry from the wholesome image they had previously portrayed.

School authorities were quick to respond, expressing their displeasure over the students’ participation in the controversial video. They have launched an investigation into why the students left the school premises to participate in the production while wearing their uniforms, an action that goes against the school’s rules and regulations.

The video, which quickly gained attention on various social media platforms, has left the school community divided. Some argue that the students have the right to pursue their interests outside of school, while others believe that their actions have tarnished the school’s reputation.

The controversy has also ignited discussions about the responsibilities of educators and parents in monitoring and guiding students’ activities beyond the classroom. Many are questioning whether the students received proper guidance and supervision regarding their participation in such a video.

The school’s administration is currently reviewing the matter and considering disciplinary action, including possible suspension for the students involved. This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges educators face in maintaining a balance between nurturing students’ creativity and upholding the institution’s values and standards.

As the investigation unfolds, the students find themselves in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, with their futures hanging in the balance as the school decides on the appropriate course of action.

Young Rob’s new 13-track album, “Afro-Lover” packs the best of feels

Accra, Friday, September 1, 2023 – UK-based Ghanaian star, Young Rob takes you on a captivating journey with his debutalbum, “Afro-Lover,” as he delves into the complexities of love and personal growth. The newly released body of work captures the highs and lows of the singer’s life experiences and the raw emotions behind them, topping all off with smooth, seductive vocals that will get anyone buzzing with excitement. Listen here: https://ditto.fm/afro-lover-young-rob

All 13 tracks on “Afro-Lover” highlight Young Rob’s vulnerable side in a twist of varying emotions. This breathtaking musical odyssey begins with the enchanting and pre-released ‘I Need Your Love,’ featuring talented saxophonist, Joko Magic. The beautiful song sets fans up for a tale of ultimate seduction with ‘Mami’ – a sizzling song for the dancefloor in which Young Rob confesses his love for Latino and Hispanic women.

Of course, Young Rob’s admiration for women goes well beyond Latin America. And he extends his veritable Casanova status to another confessional song, ‘Brown Skin Girls.’ One of his mesmerizing collaborations from 2021 alongside producer, Heaven Boy, the song’s glossy vocals and candied lyrics are enough to seal the deal in welcoming all brown-skinned girls to the party.

https://youtu.be/Uu2m63FwbUI?si=dYcFawYfGKppM4Ss

Then there is the party-shaking ‘Bo Noor,’ a standout track that promises to steal the show with its body-snatching beat. Done with artists, Samuel G and MikeMillzOnEm, this indelible groove is nothing short of a masterpiece. Young Rob and his fellow compatriots sound amazing, thanks to the producing might of one of Nigeria’s renowned producers, Zibit. ‘Fire’ sneaks in after with its raging tempo. Young Rob’s versatility takes center stage here and is wrapped in an authentic African sound that will have you bobbing your head non-stop thanks to its upbeat production.

What follows next is a powerful collaboration with rising artist, Amuga Temper and the Ewe-sang ‘Mevado’ is the track to beat. ‘Mevado’ captures Young Rob’s triumphant journey through the industry: the highs and lows, which leans much closer to the next song, ‘Otanfo.’ The two’s fates are intertwined, with the latter seeing Young Rob enlist legendary Ghanaian rap artist, Paa Dogo to address his detractors in what closes off as another mammoth of an anthem.

Young Rob dials back the simmering tension thereafter with ‘Mama Africa.’ The track plays like a heartfelt conversation between the diasporan and his beloved home. There are cues to the continent’s history, the singer’s displacement and instances where he reminisces about his childhood in a manner emphatic of his unwavering connection to his roots. Things only get emotionally intense from here, with ‘Oh Baby’ drifting listeners off into chapters of regret and heartbreak. Producer, Yann Gabriel takes the reins for this one, adding more heft to Young Rob’s emotions in a flavor that is comforting.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions from there on. ‘Moko B3’ sees Young Rob rediscover love with a poignant narrative that will take minds back to the singer’s message even long after it is over. But things take a sour turn on ‘My Baby.’ Easily the album’s most delicate song, ‘My Baby’ lays out Young Rob’s pain and explores feelings of losing one’s true love. The experience is profound, coming on top as an unbelievably sincere cut.

‘Higher’ works to give renewed hope moving forward. The euphoria of finding a new love brings Belgian-based Ghanaian superstar, Bakilla and Young Rob together as they seek out a “superwoman” of their own the sunny track, produced by Pimps Beat, comes replete with an endearing hook that is too hard to ignore. To wrap it all up, Young Rob taps Vance for the final song, ‘Nothing Like Me,’ bringing home all the album’s diverse emotions together in a chilled package. The Nigerian-American artist accomplishes this feat very well, helping Young Rob bring “Afro-Lover” to an eventful end.

If you’re in for a new album to keep your ears buzzing this month, “Afro-Lover” is a must-listen. Its ambiance and rollercoaster of emotions make a compelling case fit for anyone who loves music that moves the body, heart and soul. Don’t miss this captivating musical odyssey by Young Rob.

Bosheba Calls Out Pundits For Killing Ghana Music

Hiplife artiste, Bosheba is blaming pundits for killing the Ghanaian music industry. To the Vanilla hitmaker, pundits don’t even know anything about how musicians make money in the music business.

“Last Saturday a question was asked on a radio station that if an investor is interested in our music business, how is the investor going to get his or her money back, and the feedback I had was not the best from these pundits.

None of the people on the radio station I was listening to was able to give a reasonable answer to that. One thing I have noticed is if you are not their very own they will not talk about you which is bad” he said.

He pleaded with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mark Okraku Mante to fight for 80/20 Gh music and complete his legacy because he knows and understands what musicians are facing or going through.

“I’m coming out with an EP titled, Not My Fault, first week in September and I want Ghanaians to be ready for it”, he revealed.
